Why Are Tiny Robot Candles So Colorful?
I keep getting candle ads on my personal Instagram account lately. Probably because I’ve been talking out loud about making candles, my process, plans, ideas, goals, whatever and my phone was listening (ya creep). As a person whom has made a career working in marketing, this should be cool, however, I find it obnoxious as an average person. I digress.
What I noticed about these ads, a lot of the candles fit a similar mold. I haven’t seen one with colored wax, the labels are all similar, clean text design, natural finished labels, either natural wax or pretty jars. I’m by no means passing any judgment on any other candlemakers candles. But it made me realize what really does set Tiny Robot Candles apart from most others.
I have always LOVED to surround myself with vibrant colors
For those who know me personally, you know my wardrobe consists primarily of black. Maybe mustard and maroon or forest green sprinkled in. But always mostly black. However, I have always LOVED to surround myself with vibrant colors. I buy small trinkets in bold colors. So why wouldn’t my candles be anything but that? To make a natural colored candle would not be true to me. And being true to me is why I’m particular about every aspect of my brand. Because Tiny Robot is an extension of Danielle Capri.
Part of the candle making process I’ve grown to love has been picking the fragrance and then colors that that smell makes me think of, a color that fits a name. An illustration to tie it all together. There’s a lot of myself that I add to each one of these. As if that isn’t obvious, I’ve been making these robot illustrations since I was 14 years old, that’s almost 20 years!
I also recognize my labels and candles aren’t for everyone. And that’s okay! There are so many small business candle makers out there to support. And if you’re an avid candle burner, you’re constantly blowing through candles. Sometimes it’s about aesthetic. Sometimes it’s about smell. Mostly it’s because you enjoy the feeling you get when you ignite that wick.
Anyway. I guess seeing all these ads means I should probably spend more time sharing candle content. I’ll get better at it for those of you nice enough to support this little business of mine. Thank you.
